Outcore

Outcore started in the late 1990s in São Paulo, with Nego Max, Helião, and SBJ as founding members. They built a following in the city's underground hip-hop scene, where their direct lyrics and confrontational style set them apart from more polished acts. Their debut album 'Cara ou Coroa' came out in 1998, and they followed it with records like 'Acorda Brasil' in 2000 and 'Sobrevivendo no Inferno' in 2002.

Songs like 'Aonde Que Essa Porra Vai Parar?' and 'Idiota' became anthems for listeners who felt overlooked by mainstream Brazilian culture. The group's music often dealt with poverty, corruption, and everyday frustration, which resonated in neighborhoods where those issues were part of daily life. Their sound was raw and unadorned, a reflection of the streets they came from rather than a studio product.

Outcore's lineup shifted over time, with different members coming and going, but their core approach stayed consistent. They faced pushback from authorities and media outlets who accused them of promoting violence, though they kept recording and performing regardless.
