The band consists of vocalist Yuya Kasahara, guitarist Nobuhiro Ito, bassist Takayuki Suzuki, and drummer Masashi Tanaka.
Their 2017 single 'Chosen Undead' became their breakthrough track, drawing inspiration from the Dark Souls video game series. The song's themes of perseverance resonated with listeners and helped the band gain wider recognition in Japan. They followed it with albums like 'Dawn of the Overdrive' in 2018 and 'Beyond the Gates' in 2022.
In 2019, Overdrive Luna faced plagiarism allegations regarding one of their songs, which they denied. The dispute was eventually resolved. Their other notable tracks include 'It's Among Us' and 'Long Live the Dead'.
