Ozémy formed in Lyon in 2012, starting as an acoustic duo with singer-songwriter Clémence Quélennec and guitarist Adrien Bouhali. They built a following in the French indie scene, playing live shows while working out their sound. In 2017, their debut album 'Just Feeling' came out, and the title track caught on enough to give the band some wider attention.
Their music tends toward the introspective, with lyrics that lean into emotional territory. After 'Just Feeling,' they put out two more albums: 'Le Secret' in 2019 and 'Les Fleurs du Mal' in 2022. The band grew to include Baptiste Valette on bass and Antoine Léon on drums, and they work on songs together, piecing things out in rehearsal.
Some listeners have found their material a bit sentimental, but they've kept at it without much shift in direction. They're still based out of Lyon, making music that sits somewhere between folk, pop, and lighter electronic touches.
