Ozíris formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2000 around Rodrigo Amarante, his brother Fred Ferreira, and friends Gabriel Pardo, André Lima, and João Simão. They released their debut album 'O Tempo É Agora' in 2004, which mixed samba, bossa nova, and rock.
Their song 'Dia Letivo' became something of an anthem, touching on themes of societal constraints.
Ozíris went on to release several more albums, including 'Caminhos Cruzados' in 2011, which showed them moving toward more introspective and experimental territory. Amarante handled vocals and guitar, Ferreira played piano, Pardo was on bass, Lima on drums, and Simão on guitar.
