Their 1989 debut album 'O Desmantelo' established their aggressive, politically charged sound. The title track 'O Cara do Desmantelo' became their most recognizable song, with lyrics that criticized political corruption and police brutality. The song's direct language and imagery resonated with listeners while drawing criticism from conservative groups.
They kept releasing albums and touring through the 1990s and 2000s, maintaining their focus on social issues like poverty and inequality alongside their music.
