Ozzi Di Mello came together in Kingston, Jamaica in the late 1990s. The band was led by vocalist Ozzi Di Mello, with Wayne Gray on keyboards, Garth Taylor on bass, Andrew McKenzie on drums, and Donald Cox on guitar.
Their 2001 self-titled debut album was followed by several others, including 2003's 'Born to Be Bold' and 2006's 'Renaissance.' The single 'I Wasn't Born In Jamaica' became their breakthrough track, mixing reggae and dancehall with pop accessibility. Other songs like 'Forrock da Insônia' and 'I Like The Touch Of Your Hand' showed their range.
The band went on hiatus for a period before returning to play live shows in 2018.
