A São Paulo band that stuck with their sound through dismissals and plagiarism accusations.
For their sound, try "Frio da Solidão." For their persistence, "Quase Me Chamou de Amor" tells you what you need to know.
They worked in arrocha, a subgenre of axé that came from rural Brazil and sometimes got dismissed as low-class music. The band kept at it anyway, writing songs about love and loneliness like "Quase Me Chamou de Amor." Their lineup has stayed fairly consistent for years, with Pablo do Arrocha on lead vocals alongside Pedrinho, Marcelinho, Juninho, and Marquinho do Arrocha.
They formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s around musician Pablo do Arrocha. In 2005, they faced accusations of plagiarizing another musician's work, but they came through that period and kept making music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
