Packto formed in Buenos Aires around 1987, with Manuel Moretti on vocals and guitar and Alejandro "Pitu" Foti on bass. They played local bars for years before their debut album "Ciudad de Pobres Corazones" came out in 1996. The single "Altas Fritadas" from that record caught on and gave them a national audience.
Their sound had a hard-edged guitar feel, and songs like "Brigas pelo Sucesso" and "Meu País" carried a direct, sometimes raw lyrical tone. The lineup stayed fairly steady with Moretti, Foti, and guitarist Guillermo "Chucky" Roux at the core. They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out albums like "Packto" in 1999 and "Guerrero" in 2006.
Packto built a reputation for energetic live shows. They faced some criticism over their lyrics and performances, but maintained a loyal following in Argentina and across Latin America. Their catalog includes seven studio albums and a handful of songs that became staples for their fans, like "De Repente" and "Ilusão."
