His playing blended traditional flamenco with elements of jazz and classical music. He recorded with jazz musicians including John McLaughlin and Chick Corea. The instrumental piece "Entre Dos Aguas" became his most recognizable composition, with its mix of flamenco rhythms and melodic development.
