Pagode Mix formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2003 around Thiago Martins, Gerson Silva, and Rafael Oliveira. They started playing pagode, a Brazilian genre that comes out of samba traditions. Their first album was called 'Samba Smile' in 2006, which also became one of their better-known songs.
They put out a few more records after that, like 'Vem Balançar' in 2008 and 'Na Batida do Coração' in 2012. Other tracks people remember include 'Esse Caso Terminou' and 'Olhe Pro Seu Coração.' The group worked with some other Brazilian artists along the way, including Ivete Sangalo and Claudia Leitte.
Martins handled vocals and guitar, Silva played bass, and Oliveira was on drums. They kept at it for a while, mixing pagode's rhythms with some contemporary touches, but without making too much fuss about reinventing anything.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
