Their early work came together during a period when many Brazilian groups were finding new ways to blend local rhythms with broader pop appeal.
Their song "Música da Torcida" became a kind of unofficial national anthem, played at football matches and street parties across the country. It captured a particular moment of collective celebration, something simpler and more direct than their later, more pointed material.
They released several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, including 'Paixão do Brasil' in 1995, 'Abraçando o Brasil' in 1997, and 'Brasil da Gente' in 2002. Their sound pulled from samba, axé, and reggae, but it was always built for a crowd, for singing along. Another track, "País da Farra," took a different tone, with lyrics that addressed corruption and inequality, which stirred some debate at the time.
