Pajeú formed in 1997 in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brazil. The group includes Zé Pajeú on vocals and songwriting, Lula Lira on accordion and percussion, and Marcelo Pajeú on bass and vocals. Their music pulls from the forró tradition of Brazil's Northeast region, but they've also worked in elements of reggae and rock.
Their song "Roda Menina" came out in 2005 and became their most recognizable track. It helped bring them attention outside Brazil, though the band has kept a fairly low profile since then.
