Panda Bear is the solo project of Noah Lennox, who started putting out music under that name in the late 1990s. He's also a member of Animal Collective, where his vocal style and experimental leanings became apparent early on. His first solo album came out in 2004, followed by 'Young Prayer' in 2007.
His 2007 album 'Person Pitch' got a lot of attention for its layered, dreamy sound. Later records like 'Tomboy' and 'Buoys' continued in that vein, with songs such as 'Bros' and 'Sequential Circuits' building on his mix of psychedelic pop and ambient textures. He's worked with other artists, including Sonic Boom.
Lennox keeps making music as Panda Bear, most recently with the 2019 album 'Buoys.' The project has stayed focused on its particular blend of electronic and folk-influenced sounds without much concern for mainstream polish.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
