Pankreas formed in Milan in 1982 with vocalist Carmelo "Pino" Scotti, guitarist Claudio "Ciac" Costa, bassist Gianluigi "Geno" Meozzi, and drummer Marco "Boga" Pagani. They played a raw, relentless style of punk that quickly found its place in Italy's underground scene. Scotti's lyrics took aim at political corruption and social injustice, which sometimes put the band at odds with authorities and other factions within punk circles.
Their 1985 debut album "Onda anomala" established them as a serious presence in Italian punk. They followed it with records like "Ultimi giorni di scuola" in 1987 and "Quello che non c'รจ" in 1989. One of their most pointed tracks, "DC Biu," drew particular attention for its sharp criticism of the Italian political system.
The band's lineup shifted at times, though Scotti remained the consistent voice. They worked with other musicians including Vasco Rossi and Henry Rollins. Songs like "Medica" and "DC Biu" kept their confrontational energy alive through the decade.
Pankreas never softened their stance or sound. Their music stayed rooted in that early-80s Milanese punk spirit, direct, unpolished, and willing to say what others wouldn't.
