Papa Celestin feat

Papa Celestin was a New Orleans jazz band active in the early 20th century. Their 1925 recording "Marie Le Veau" became one of their best-known songs, with a lively tempo and lyrics that reflected the city's character. The group included musicians like trumpeter Louis Celestin, drummer Paul Barbarin, and clarinetist Alphonse Picou.

They recorded through the 1920s and into the 1940s, with titles like "San Juan Hill" and "The Original Tuxedo Rag" appearing alongside "Marie Le Veau." Their music drew from the traditional jazz sounds of New Orleans at the time.

Some of their lyrics were considered provocative by certain audiences, but the band continued performing and recording. Their work remains part of the early jazz catalog from that era in New Orleans.
