Parallax formed in Los Angeles in 1998 with guitarist Ethan Reyes, bassist Alex Marquez, drummer Tony Cruz, and vocalist Chris Ryder. They released their breakthrough album 'Desolation' in 2003, which included the song 'Ambush.'
That track became their most recognizable piece, built around heavy guitars and Ryder's vocals. The band followed it with several more albums, including 'Ascendance,' 'Requiem,' 'Delirium,' and 'Oblivion.'
Only Reyes and Marquez have stayed with the group through various lineup changes. They've kept playing live shows with a straightforward metal sound that hasn't shifted much from what they established early on.
