Paranhoz

Paranhoz formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s, led by vocalist Marcos Sacramento. Their sound mixed rock, folk, and electronic elements in a way that didn't fit neatly into existing categories, which made it harder to find a mainstream audience at first. They kept at it through touring, building a following drawn to their emotionally direct performances.

Their debut album 'Paranhoz' came out in 2002, followed by 'Última Noite' in 2005, 'Manual Prático para Fanáticos' in 2009, and 'Doce Veneno' in 2013. The song 'Hoje Eu Fecho O Bar' became their most recognizable track, an anthem of sorts for late-night reflection. Another song, 'Vacilou,' also appears among their most-listened-to work.

Over their four albums and various EPs, Paranhoz's arrangements incorporated touches of jazz, classical, and Brazilian folk music, but the core of their writing stayed focused on vulnerability and resilience. They remained an unconventional presence in Brazilian music, more defined by their particular mood than by genre conventions.
