Archive material and source history

Parody was a band that made satirical songs in the early 1990s. Their track 'I Ran Over The Taco Bell Dog' became their most recognizable piece, though they also had songs like 'Iraqthumping' and 'Who Let Them Cows Out' in their catalog.

They released a debut album called 'In the End, It Doesn't Even Matter' that included 'I Ran Over The Taco Bell Dog' along with parodies of songs like 'Baby One More Time' and 'Smooth.' Later albums included 'The Saga Begins,' which was Star Wars-themed, and 'American Idiot,' which was a send-up of Green Day's album.

Their humor sometimes drew criticism, and they faced a lawsuit over a parody of the Forrest Gump theme song called 'Gump.' The court ruled in their favor on that case. The band's members included Al Yankovic as founder and lead singer, Jim 'Weird Al' West on guitar, Steve Jay on bass, and Jon 'Bermuda' Schwartz on drums.
