Parov Stelar is the project of Austrian producer Marcus Füreder, who started it in 2004. He was drawn to vintage jazz sounds, particularly Django Reinhardt's guitar work, and wanted to mix that with electronic production. The early years were lean, with little money or industry interest, but they kept playing shows and building an audience around Vienna.
Things changed in 2007 with the album 'Seven and Storm' and its single 'Booty Swing.' That track took off across Europe, becoming a dance floor staple with its swing samples and electronic basslines. It gave the project its first real international reach.
Since then, Parov Stelar has put out albums like 'Shine,' 'The Invisible Agent,' and 'Voodoo Sonic.' The sound has kept its core mix of old jazz and new beats, but has touched on funk and soul at times. Songs like 'All Night' and 'Hooked on You' show the style's consistency, upbeat, sample-driven, and made for movement.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
