Patrick Hernandez was born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France in 1949. He started out playing drums and guitar, and in 1976 he formed the disco group Sagittarius with producer Jean Van Loo.
He went solo in 1978 and released 'Born To Be Alive.' The song became a massive hit, topping charts in over 25 countries. Its bassline and synths made it one of the defining tracks of the disco era.
After that success, Hernandez put out albums like 'I Can't Stop the Music' in 1979 and 'Go All the Way' in 1980.
