Paul Brandt was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1972. His debut album 'Calm Before the Storm' came out in 1996, but it was the single 'Convoy' the following year that really broke through, topping the Billboard country chart. That song, along with others like 'I Do' and 'A Little In Love,' helped establish him as a major figure in Canadian country music.
He's released a dozen studio albums and has won several Canadian Country Music Association awards. Brandt has performed with artists like Brad Paisley and Vince Gill, and toured with Shania Twain. In 2005, he drew criticism for playing a guitar with a Confederate flag design at the Grand Ole Opry, for which he later apologized.
Brandt is married with three children and is known for his Christian faith and charity work. While 'Convoy' remains his most recognizable hit, his catalog includes a range of material from love songs to tracks like '12 Step Recovery' that touch on more personal themes.
