Archive material and source history

Paul Elstak is a Dutch DJ and producer who came up in the early 1990s, drawn to the hardcore techno sounds coming out of Belgium. In 1994, he co-founded the Roq 'N' Roll DJ Team with Lars Boom, a collective that helped push hardcore into the mainstream in the Netherlands. Their track "A Taste of Fear" became a defining anthem of that era.

His solo work after that kept him at the center of the Dutch hardcore scene, though it sometimes stirred things up. As the sound shifted, Elstak moved into hardstyle as well, releasing tracks like "Luv U More" in 1999. He kept putting out music through the early 2000s, playing events like Qlimax in 2003.
