Archive material and source history

Paul Engemann sang lead vocals on the 1982 single 'Push It to the Limit' with the band Signal. The song appeared on their debut album 'Loud and Clear' and became a recognizable track from that era. He was born in New York City in 1958.

Before Signal, Engemann had been involved in music from a young age. In the late 1970s, he helped form the band that would eventually release 'Push It to the Limit' and other songs like 'Hanging On a Heart Attack' and 'Who Says'.

In 1986, Engemann was diagnosed with throat cancer and underwent surgery that affected his vocal cords. He worked to regain his voice through rehabilitation. Later, in 2001, he faced false allegations of sexual misconduct that were eventually dismissed.
