They started as a trio with Serginho on guitar and Marquinho on bass, later adding Mateus on drums, Diego on percussion, and Thiago on keyboards.
Their music often dealt with life in underprivileged communities, and the song 'Favela' drew some criticism for its direct portrayal of slum conditions. They put out albums like 'Em Japeri' in 2004, 'Pedra Rosa' in 2007, 'Inspiração' in 2011, and 'Raiz' in 2015. 'Em Japeri' eventually appeared on the soundtrack for the film 'Cidade de Deus.'
