Paullinho came up in Rio de Janeiro, where he started writing songs in the early 1970s. He formed a band with Arismar do Espírito Santo on drums and Luiz Carlos da Vila on bass. Their 1973 album 'Inventando' became a sensation, with the title track blending samba with rock and funk. The song 'Não Me Telefona' also came from this period.
His lyrics often dealt with the social and political climate of Brazil at the time. Facing political pressure, he eventually left the country.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
