Paulo Kalu formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1997. Their debut album '100 Sentidos' came out in 2001, with the title track becoming a hit on Brazilian charts. The band's sound mixed rock with pop and reggae, anchored by Paulo Kalu's vocals.
They followed up with 'Acústico,' which presented their songs in stripped-down arrangements. Later albums like 'Na Contramão' and 'O Mundo Não Acabou' brought in funk, soul, and samba elements. Other songs in their catalog include 'A Caso do Destino,' 'Alma Livre,' 'Beira Mar,' and 'Canal Do Paramar.'
Their lineup included guitarist Eduardo Faro, bassist Junior Bocca, and drummer Luizinho Caldas. The band developed a following in Brazil during the early 2000s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
