Lady Rosas formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s with vocalist and guitarist Bibiana Corrêa, bassist Marina Franco, and drummer Bia Ferreira. Their song 'Área do Cone' became a viral hit on YouTube in 2007, which helped push it to the top of Brazilian charts. That track's success led to their self-titled debut album in 2008, which debuted at number one on the Brazilian album charts.
In 2009, Bibiana Corrêa was arrested for possession of marijuana, sparking public debate about drug use and creative expression. Marina Franco left the band in 2012 due to creative differences, leading to a brief hiatus. The group returned in 2014 with a new lineup that included bassist Amanda Duarte and released their second album 'Revolução,' which explored more experimental themes while keeping their blend of melody and social commentary.
