Paulson formed in 2004, led by Ryan Paulson. They came out of the Pacific Northwest and put out their debut EP, 'Red Line', in 2008. That record had a raw, atmospheric indie rock feel that started to get them noticed.
One of their songs, 'N As In Nothing', drew some sharp criticism in 2010 for its explicit content. Later albums like 'In The Distance' from 2016 moved into folk and ambient textures.
You can hear that shift in songs like 'A Great Pretending' and 'All At Once'. Their music doesn't stick to one lane, but it usually carries a certain atmospheric weight, even when the arrangements get quieter.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
