Pazuzu formed in Lyon, France in 1997, taking their name from a Babylonian demon. Their debut album 'La Baronesse Et Le Demon' came out in 2003, establishing a sound that mixed rock and metal with darker themes. The band's lineup has centered on vocalist/guitarist Akhenaton, bassist/vocalist Grégoire, and drummer/vocalist S.V.
Their 2006 album 'Icon of Evil' drew protests from religious groups over its occult imagery, though the band continued performing. Later releases like 'Erzebeth' in 2011 and 'Blackest' in 2018 maintained their focus on heavy, atmospheric music. Songs like 'An Antidote For God' and 'And All Was Silent' show their preference for dramatic titles and expansive arrangements.
Pazuzu's music tends toward the theatrical, with tracks like 'Ask My Dying Soul' and 'Awaken The Dragon - Millenium Two' suggesting a taste for grand concepts. They've worked with occasional collaborators including keyboardist François and guitarist Olivier, but the core trio has remained consistent through their recordings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
