PE LOPES formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, with P.J. Lopez on vocals, Johnny Davis on guitar, Mike Hanson on bass, and Chris Reed on drums. Their debut album 'Beyond the Horizon' came out in 2003, and its single 'Stronger Than I Thought' got some attention.
In 2005, drummer Chris Reed was arrested for drug possession, and the band brought in Jake Carter to replace him. They put out another album called 'Phoenix' the following year. P.J. Lopez made some comments about the music industry in 2008 that caused a bit of a stir.
They released 'The Edge of the World' in 2010.
