Pé Na Cova formed in São Paulo in 1996. Their sound pulled from hardcore punk, Brazilian rhythms, and bits of funk and ska, built around distorted guitars and a heavy rhythm section. The lineup included vocalist João Gordo, bassist Mingau, guitarist Marcão, and drummer Xande.
Their debut album 'Matanza Real' established their aggressive approach. Later records like 'Direção Contraria' tackled social and political themes. Songs such as 'Não me importa sua opinião' and 'Riqueza e pobreza' carried their confrontational, lyrically direct style.
Their music often drew criticism from conservative groups for its outspoken content. The band maintained this stance through their releases before eventually winding down.
