Pechisbeque formed in Lima, Peru, with vocalist Elmer "Simón" García leading the group. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2002, followed by records like "Raíces" in 2006 and "Resistencia" in 2015. The band includes guitarist Marcos "Chino" Navarro, percussionist Arturo "Arturito" Alvarez, bassist Alex "El Flaco" Gallardo, and saxophonist Pedro "Pedrito" Mamani.
Their song "Como Está" became particularly well-known, alongside tracks like "D'Onde Vens" and "Eu sei como tu és." They mix traditional Peruvian rhythms with hip-hop and reggae elements.
Some of their lyrics have addressed social themes, which has occasionally sparked discussion in Peru. Their music draws from the country's cultural heritage while reflecting contemporary concerns.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
