Pedágio

Pedágio came together in São Paulo in the early 1990s, with Marcelo D2 on vocals, Fred 04 on guitar, and Claudio Botão on bass. They were mixing hip-hop with heavy metal at a time when that combination was still unusual in Brazil. Their 1999 album 'Acústico MTV' got them noticed nationally, partly because of the track 'Www.com,' which caught the mood of the early internet era with its groove and social observations.

Their sound kept that rap-metal blend, using rapping and samples alongside guitar riffs. Later albums like 'Comunidade' and 'Psicodelic' came out in the early 2000s. The lineup shifted over time, though Marcelo D2 stayed at the front. Other songs like '9933 Na Avenida' and 'Bip' show their style, direct, rhythmic, and grounded in city life.

They worked with a few other Brazilian artists, including Jorge Ben Jor and Sabotage. Their music often touched on social themes, but they kept it musical rather than purely message-driven.
