Pedrinho do Cavaco is a Brazilian musician from the Santa Marta neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. He plays the cavaquinho, a traditional Brazilian stringed instrument, and his music often features soulful vocals. His breakthrough came with the song "Paciência," which he co-wrote with composer Thiago André in 2002. That track became widely popular in Brazil.
In 2006, Pedrinho faced legal issues over the samba groove used in "Paciência," with allegations that it was plagiarized from another song. The dispute lasted several years. Despite this, he kept recording and performing. In 2011, he released "Lugarzinho," a ballad about his hometown that also became a hit.
Other notable songs include "Praia Nua" with Jorge Vercillo, "Revanche," "Lua E Marte," and "Não Quero Despedida" featuring Mumuzinho. His work blends samba rhythms with melodic pop sensibilities, anchored by his cavaquinho playing.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
