Pedro de Melo is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Rio Grande do Sul who works with traditional vaneira rhythms. He started performing in the early 1980s with a band called Os Galponeiros, playing music influenced by regional figures like Luiz Gonzaga and Teixeirinha.
His song 'No Embalo da Vaneira' came out in 1987 and became widely known. Another track, 'Mente Que Largou,' also appears among his more familiar work. These recordings draw from the spirited dance styles of gaucho culture.
In the early 2000s, he was involved in a plagiarism case that was later resolved. He has occasionally drawn attention for speaking about social and political matters.
