Pela Porta Estreita formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1997. The band's name translates to "Through the Narrow Gate," and their original lineup included vocalist and guitarist Leandro Aguiari, bassist Paulo Maciel, and drummer Marcelo Neiva. They started out playing small venues around the city, working within the Christian rock scene.
Their debut album came out in 2001, simply titled "Pela Porta Estreita." They followed it with "Sobre as Asas de um Sonho" in 2003, "No Coração do Homem" in 2007, and "Luz das Almas" in 2012. Songs like "Entrega" and "Sempre Serei Teu" became staples in their catalog, often dealing with themes of faith and personal reflection.
In 2005, the band faced plagiarism accusations from another Brazilian group, though the matter was eventually dismissed. They've also occasionally drawn criticism for some of their lyrical content. The current lineup includes guitarist Fernando Marquez alongside the founding members.
