Peleco formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s with Marcelo Mira on vocals, guitarists Edu Krieger and Jorge Martins, bassist Gustavo Vaz, and drummer Bruno Martins. They released their self-titled debut album in 2001, which included the track 'O Que Sinto Agora (é o Amor).' That song became a hit in Brazil, with its straightforward chorus and lyrics about love connecting with listeners.
After that first album, they put out 'Sem Vergonha' in 2003 and 'Quem É Você' in 2006. Their live shows were known for being energetic. The band faced some challenges and controversies during their run, including an arrest involving Mira in 2004.
