A Japanese rock band that formed in 1992 and kept going through vocal cord trouble and shifting trends.
For a good sense of their sound, try 'fantasia' or 'Love & Peace.' They're the kind of band that just kept making their thing.
They helped define a certain era of Japanese rock with songs like 'fantasia' and 'Angel Trip,' both known for that elaborate visual kei styling. Their music held on through the 2000s with later albums like 'Romancer' and 'Ace,' and tracks such as 'haru' and 'NUDE' kept a following. Even after HAKUEI's vocal cord problems forced a hiatus in 2007, they came back in 2010 and kept playing.
Penicillin formed in 1992 and put out their debut album '99banme No Yoru' in 1994. The band's lineup has stayed the same with HAKUEI on vocals, GISHO on guitar, CHISATO on bass, and KURA on drums. They took a break after 2007 but returned to performing in 2010 and kept releasing music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
