Pepeu Marques was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1950 and came up during the bossa nova era of the 1960s. He formed a trio in the early 1970s with his brother Bebeto on bass and Paulinho Braga on drums, playing a mix of jazz standards and more experimental material.
The track appears on his 1973 debut album "Pepeu Gomes," which blended Brazilian rhythms with jazz improvisation.
