Pepsi DeMacque and Shirlie Kemp met while working as backing singers for Wham! in 1983. They formed their own duo, initially called Pepsi & Shirlie with Wham!, and signed with Polydor in 1985.
Their debut single "Heartache" reached the UK top 10. Their biggest hit came in 1987 with "Can't Give Me Love," which reached number one in several countries. They released albums like All Right Now in 1987 and Change in 1988.
In 1988, Pepsi DeMacque was diagnosed with a brain tumor and took a break from the band after treatment. Shirlie Kemp had married Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran in 1985. The duo reunited in the late 1990s and released an album called Virtual Re.
