A band that's been delivering aggressive, melodic metal since the early '90s, anchored by Mikko Aspa's vocals and outspoken views.
If you want to hear what they're about, start with When You're Dead and then try Stolt. That gives you both their early signature track and a later example of their melodic aggression.
When You're Dead became one of their most recognizable songs right from their 1994 debut, setting the tone for their heavy guitar riffs and Aspa's vocal style. Songs like Stolt and Heart Full Of Pride show how they blend aggression with melody in a way that's kept their following intact. Their particular intensity has survived lineup changes and decades of recording.
Perkele formed in 1991 with Aspa on vocals and Ari-Pekka Mustonen on guitar, releasing When You're Dead in 1994. They've put out albums steadily since, from The Burning in 1997 to The Beast Inside in 2022, with Aspa and Mustonen remaining constant while the rhythm section shifted. Their sound has maintained that combination of heavy riffs and distinctive vocals throughout.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
