Archive material and source history
Perla Siete was a Brazilian pop-rock band that formed in the late 1990s. Their lineup included Rodrigo Veloso on lead vocals and guitar, Carlos de Andrade on lead guitar, Sérgio Carrato on bass, and Nilo Mazzaferro on drums. The band's name references a Brazilian legend about a mythical wish-granting lake.
Their self-titled debut album came out in 1999 and included "Causa e Efeito," which became a national hit. They followed with five more studio albums through 2013, including O Jogo, Labirinto, and Último Ato. In 2002, Carlos de Andrade left the band and was replaced by guitarist Rafael Varisco.
Their songs like "Ela Fica" and "Lamento Comum" blended pop, rock, and Brazilian rhythms. In 2007, they faced plagiarism accusations over their song "O Mundo" from songwriter Carlos Colla, though they eventually cleared their name.
