Pernell Roberts

Pernell Roberts was an actor who also recorded music in the early 1960s. He's best known for playing Adam Cartwright on the television series 'Bonanza,' but he released several albums during that period, including 'Pernell Roberts Sings' in 1960, 'Songs of the West' in 1962, and 'The Western World of Pernell Roberts' in 1963.

His most familiar song is 'Alberta,' a ballad from 1960 that did well on country charts. Other recordings include 'Bold Soldier,' 'Come All Ye Fair And Tender Ladies,' 'Early One Morning,' and 'Empty Pocket Blues.' These were mostly folk and country material, sometimes with traditional roots.

Roberts worked with musicians like guitarist Joe Babcock, bassist Bud Isaacs, harmonica player Charlie McCoy, and drummer Bill Purdy. He kept performing and recording occasionally in later years, though his acting work remained what most people knew him for.
