Archive material and source history
The Pernice Brothers formed in 1996 in Cleveland, Ohio, with Joe Pernice on vocals and guitar, Norm Napolitano on bass, and Brian Hofeldt on drums. Their first album, 'Overcome By Happiness,' came out in 1998 and gave the band its name. Napolitano and Hofeldt left not long after, but Pernice kept the project going with other musicians like bassist Paul Klimson and drummer Cory Gray.
Joe Pernice writes most of the songs, which tend to be melodic and a little sad. The band has put out nine albums, including 'The World Won't End' in 2001 and 'Yours, Mine & Ours' in 2006. Other songs like '7:30' and 'All I Know' show the same careful, quiet pop style.
