Pétalas Insanas formed in São Paulo in 1984 with Marcos "Marcão" Valadão on vocals, Sérgio "Serginho" Lopes on guitar, Luiz "Lúcio" Ribeiro on bass, and Eduardo "Gordo" Dutra on drums. Their sound pulled from punk and heavy metal, landing with a raw edge that connected with listeners outside the mainstream.
Their song "Velha Estrada" became something of an anthem, and other tracks like "A Besta" and "Por Todos Nós" filled out their catalog. They released several albums through the late 80s and early 90s, including "Velha Estrada" in 1987 and "O Enigma" in 1992. The group disbanded in 1993.
