The Brooklyn-born drummer who helped shape Kiss's early sound and sang a few surprising leads.
For the full picture, listen to the stomp of "Destroyer" era Kiss and then his own "You Matter To Me." It's a short trip from the arena to something quieter.
Criss wasn't just the guy in the makeup keeping time. His drumming on albums like "Destroyer" gave Kiss its stomp, and he stepped out from behind the kit to sing lead on tracks like "I Can't Stop The Rain." He was playing in a local band called Chelsea before joining Kiss in 1973. After leaving the band in 1980, he kept recording, with later songs like "Easy Thing" and "Kiss The Girl Goodbye" showing up in his catalog.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
