Peter Sarstedt was born in India in 1941. He moved to England in his early twenties and joined a folk group called the Sandells before going solo. In 1968, he signed with Parlophone Records.
His debut single "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)" became a Top 10 hit in the UK in 1969. The song's melancholic melody and evocative lyrics about searching for someone in London captured listeners.
After that breakthrough, Sarstedt released several albums including "Peter Sarstedt" in 1969, "Every Which Way" in 1970, and "Worlds" in 1971. He continued recording into the 2000s, with a posthumous album "Adventures in Time and Space" appearing in 2005.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
