PeterLicht

PeterLicht is the stage name of Peter Rubel, a German singer-songwriter who started gaining attention in the late 1990s. He was first known as the frontman for the experimental rock band Pillow before releasing his solo debut album 'Sonne' in 2001. That album's lead single 'Sonnendeck' became a significant track for him.

His music tends toward a minimalist sound, with lyrics that often touch on personal and introspective themes. Songs like 'Hallo Hallo (dies Ist Der Tag)' and 'Abfliegen' show his style of blending straightforward melodies with thoughtful writing. He has worked with other musicians occasionally, including drummers Stefan Will and Florian Schaube, and keyboardist Sebastian Nippe.

In 2010, PeterLicht was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder that caused temporary paralysis, an experience that reportedly influenced his later work. He also drew public attention in 2014 for comments he made about the German government's handling of the refugee crisis, which sparked some debate at the time.

He has released eight studio albums and collaborated with artists like Françoise Hardy and Soap&Skin. While he mostly works solo, he performs live with a changing group of musicians.
