Phantom Tones

Phantom Tones came together in London, four people with different backgrounds who found they shared a musical sensibility. Their sound didn't fit neatly into existing categories, mixing alternative rock with electronic touches and lyrics that leaned introspective. They built an audience playing live shows in smaller venues, developing a chemistry that felt genuine even when their approach wasn't always welcomed by the industry.

In 2018, they released 'Talking,' a song with a haunting melody that caught on far beyond their existing following. It became a hit in multiple countries, though its lyrics also sparked some debate about what it was saying about modern relationships.

After 'Talking,' they put out other tracks like 'Tell Me' and 'You Didn't Know Me' that continued in a similar vein, atmospheric, a bit moody, with lyrics that felt personal. They never became the kind of act that explained themselves much, which suited the music.
