Phillybloco

Phillybloco is a music collective from Philadelphia that plays Afro-Brazilian music. They formed in the late 1990s, bringing together musicians and activists who shared an interest in the sounds and cultural connections between Brazil and the African diaspora.

Their debut album 'Festa Para Um Rei Negro' came out in 2005. The title track became one of their most recognized songs, built around the kind of percussion-heavy rhythms that define their approach.
